Great ready-made stays, but did need a few minor modifications. The underarm portions of the stays kept poking under my arms and made reaching forward difficult so I opened two channels and pulled out the boning. I also opened all the channels on the back skirt tabs (the boning at the ends of the skirt tabs were poking into my hips), the center back, and the horizontal bust channel and replaced the steel boning with artificial whale bone. Replacing the boning would most likely not be necessary for the average reenactor; however, I've been wearing my stays nearly every day for over a month to help relieve my lower back pain and I needed a little more softness and flexibility. Fit: 5'5" tall, 34 A/B bust, 29" waist and wearing a size small. Stays have 2" gap along the front. I could have perhaps sized up to a medium, but the bust would have been too large. and the stays would probably have laced completely closed.
