The right coat can change a whole outfit. Nearly every 18th century man would have worn a coat over his waistcoat to be properly dressed. This is appropriate for any middle and upper middle class impression in the later part of the 18th century. The collar and cuffs on the sleeves add a level of refinement, taking it a step up in class from our other 1770s civilian coat. Made of a medium weight wool, this can be worn for the majority of the year.
I have worn my green wool frock coat several times portraying a militiaman in our SAR color guard. Despite the unseasonably hot weather I like it' It fits well; however the sleeves are a little too long. I will shorten them myself. I like the effect of the cloth covered buttons despite their being modern in design, but they are not noticeable. Overall I am very happy with the garment!
I love this Coat !! have not stopped wearing it since I got it. i live in Michigan and it is so warm and comfortable. Love it !!!
